Portrait of Daniel Slowik in a Signature English Couture Interior designed by Daniel. The image shows beautiful upholstery, antiques and art.

Daniel Slowik is an Interior Decorator and Antique Dealer. Working in the tradition of English Couture, a design thread that runs from William Kent in the 18th century to John Fowler in the 20th century.

His training with the best makers and craftspeople working in the Industry for 25 years has given him a depth of understanding of technique and detail that cannot be acquired without serious engagement, he believes however that working with clients should be fun!

“Projects large and small are worthy of the same level of attention to detail, so many people now attempt to reproduce things from images, but there is no substitute for understanding how something is constructed.

The physical properties of the component materials, how fabric catches the light and falls depending on its weight and the direction of how you cut the cloth. These are all techniques familiar to the Couturier, and which produces something that is the antithesis of unsustainable disposable manufacture.

My work is founded in the knowledge of generations of the best makers in their field. English Couture is a quality I strongly uphold, and something I find exciting to live up to!”
